Ian Evans-Tattoo Artist
My name is Ian Evans and I've been tattooing a little over five years. I enjoy rendering a variety of subject matter from Traditional style tattoos to watercolor, black & gray and color realism and almost everything in between. I do gravitate to more neo traditional and new school / illustrative styles in my personal artwork. So basically bold and bright! I draw on many influences in my tattoo and personal work from street/graffiti art, surrealist painters, cartooning, illustration, comic books, fine art and of course tattoo art and try to combine a bit from each thing. When I’m not tattooing I’m really the happiest when I’m creating. I also enjoy learning new art mediums, I started learning to oil paint about 3 years ago as well as continuing to learn with acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and markers. I do all I can to bring something new each time I work on a piece of art whether it’s a tattoo, painting, marker drawing.
The Process for Starting a Tattoo
My goal when working with each client is to design a tattoo that will last over the years and to create something unique and personal for each and every person. The typical process starts with a scheduled consultation. You can contact me through my email [email protected] . I will set up a time for us to meet and discuss your ideas (imagery, placement, size, complexity and number of sessions needed based on those factors) and start a rough sketch, take tracings of the area that will be worked on or have a drawn on consultation ( which is where you come in and I'll draw directly on you to get a better feel for how the design fits naturally on your body ) I will also ask that if you have any "reference material" (images of what you had in mind for a starting point) that you bring it printed out to the consultation or email them ahead of time. I then require a $60 non-refundable deposit ( to compensate me for drawing the design as well as securing your appointment time) the deposit also goes towards the final price of your tattoo. I will have you come back at the time of your appointment to approve the design and talk about any alterations that may need to be made. If none are needed, I will schedule enough time that day to start the project.
